Badano wpływ 24-epibrasinolidu (BR27) na aktywność enzymów antyoksydacyjnych i rozwój jęczmienia w następstwie stresu wysokotemperaturowego. Na 24 godziny przed poddaniem 18-dniowych roślin działaniu wysokiej temperatury (40°C, 3 godz.) wykonano opryski 24-epibrasionolidem (0,5 mg·dm⁻³) w 0,5% (v/v) roztworze etanolowo-wodnym. Zastosowano kontrolę absolutna i kontrolę etanolowa (pryskana 0,5% (v/v) roztworem etanolu w wodzie). Oprysk BR27 spowodował, że 100% populacji jęczmienia fazę kłoszenia osiągnęło w 85 dniu wegetacji, tj. o 18 dni później niż rośliny w kontroli absolutnej i 9 dni później niż rośliny kontroli etanolowej.

The aim of experiment was to investigate the impact of 24-epibrassinolide (BR27) on antioxidant enzymes activity and development of barley after heat stress. 24 hours before thermal stress (40°C, 3h) 18-day-old plants were sprayed with 0.5% ethanol-water solution of 24-epibrassinolide (0,5 mg·dm⁻³). Two controls were used; absolute control - not sprayed plants and ethanol control - plants sprayed 0.5% ethanol-water solution. Peroxidase (PX) activity remained unchanged in plants tested before stress as in plants of absolute control and BR27 treated after heat stress. However, the activity of PX was significantly lowered in ethanol control after heat stress which indicates that in this case the BR27 neutralised the effect of ethanol. The activity of catalase (CAT) was lowered after the heat stress by about 30% in both controls. BR27 increased CAT activity in comparison to both controls as well as compared to plants before stress. BR27 stimulated growth of plants at the earlier stage of development, and then the growth was a little inhibited but plant tillering was stimulated. Barley sprayed with BR27 produced even 5 stems per plant while in controls maximum 4. BR27 delayed the generative development of barley. 100% of plants sprayed with BR27 achieved the heading stage on 85th day of culture while in the absolute and ethanol control respectively 18 and 9 days earlier.
