An attempt was made to elaborate the own method defining evaluation criteria of technological factor in dairy cattle husbandry. On that basis the levels of technology were estimated in three types of dairy units: small herd units, large herd units and big specialistic dairy farms. The technology levels were compared to mechanization levels (determined according to previous criteria) and operation ability indices. It was stated that the attributions of technology level and mechanization level are neither to be identified nor interchangeably used. In smaller dairy units the technology level does not equal the level of mechanization. However, generally in big dairy farms the high technology level met relatively low operation ability index, mostly because of improper microclimatic conditions in the buildings.
