Przedmiotem badań byl wpływ niewielkich stężeń kadmu obecnego w paszy na efektywność tarła karpi pod działaniem środków stymulujących owulację. Ryby żywione były przez okres 10 miesięcy, a następnie w okresie tarłowym wykonano samicom dootrzewnowe iniekcje homogena-tu przysadki mózgowej lub Ovopelu. Następnie samice przeniesiono na tarliska, gdzie przebywały już dojrzałe samce. Po dwóch dniach samice odłowiono, zważono i poddano ocenie, czy pozostawiły na tarliskach ikrę. Wykazano, że długotrwałe oddziaływanie małych dawek Cd wpływa niekorzystnie na tarło ryb, blokując owulację oocytów. Pierwiastek ten silniej oddziałuje na jajniki, słabiej na tkankę nerwową.
