Wprowadzenie. Okres młodzieńczy jest czasem dynamicznego wzrostu oraz rozwoju organizmu. W czasie wzrostu i dojrzewania zachodzą intensywne przemiany w organizmie, a tym samym zwiększa się zapotrzebowanie na energię i składniki pokarmowe w tym składniki mineralne. Cel. Celem podjętych badań była ocena pobrania sodu, potasu, wapnia, fosforu, magnezu, żelaza, cynku, miedzi i manganu z całodziennych racji pokarmowych przez dzieci w wieku 10–12 lat. Materiał i metody. Ocenę sposobu żywienia przeprowadzono metodą wywiadu żywieniowego z ostatnich 24 godzin, wiosną oraz jesienią 2006 w losowo wybranych Szkołach Podstawowych w Krakowie i Skawinie. Zawartość składników mineralnych (Na, K, Ca, P, Mg, Fe, Zn, Cu, Mn) spożywanych przez respondentów z racjami pokarmowymi oraz realizację norm oszacowano przy użyciu programu komputerowego „DIETA 2.0”. Wyniki. Podaż składników mineralnych w racjach pokarmowych badanej populacji na ogół nie pozwalała na pokrycie zapotrzebowania. Deficytowymi makroelementami były wapń i magnez, natomiast mikroelementami - miedź, cynk oraz żelazo. Niedostateczna podaż wapnia, przy jednoczesnym pełnym pokryciu zapotrzebowania na fosfor, skutkowała niewłaściwym ich stosunkiem w diecie (0,62 przy zalecanym, wynoszącym 1). Spożycie manganu i potasu w pełni pokrywało zapotrzebowanie, natomiast sód i sól kuchenna pobierane były w nadmiarze. Wnioski. Stwierdzone nieprawidłowości w pobraniu składników mineralnych przez dzieci mogą zwiększać ryzyko rozwoju, chorób dietozależnych w wieku dojrzałym.
