Infection levels of six fish species-representing the family Nothoteniidae-with external parasite Eubrachiella antarctica (Quidor, 1906) (Copepoda) were studied in the season of 1978/79. The prevalence and the intensity of infection of individual fish species on different fishing grounds of the Atlantic sector of Antarctic were determined. In addition the density analysis of the parasite occurrence on different parts of fish body was carried out as well as the relationship between the infection parameters and the body length of the studied fish species.
Paracyclops fimbriatus can be easily cultured as a food source for juvenile fish. The crustacean can be fed protozoans living in sewage sludge and in hay infusions. When properly fed, the cyclopoid densities can be as high as 1000 000 inds/dm3. Methods of culture and harvest of the crustaceans are described. Data on length and biomass of all the 12 developmental stages are reported as well.

Some adaptations to endoparasitism in 20 species and 2 subspecies of euglenoid parasitic flagellates ihabiting gut of fresh water Copepoda have been studied. The trophozoites, dividing and flagellate forms have been examined by means of morphometric, morphological and cytochemical methods at light and electron microscope level. The developmental cycle, specificity and ecological conditions were analysed for establishing adaptative features. Three groups of species can be distinguished according to degree of their adaptations into parasitic way of life.
In the course of ichthyological inventory investigations in the main watercourse of the Narew River the occurrence of Tracheliastes polycolpus Nordm. Was recorded on ide Leuciscus idus (L.) and pike Esox lucius L. A comparison of the occurrence of this parasite in other rivers of Poland is presented.
Certain physico-chemical characteristics, such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, carbonate/bicarbonate alkalinity, chloride, silicate, phosphate phosphorus, and nitrate-nitrogen of surface and 1.5 m deep water showed diel variation with a varied trend. Plankton dominated the surface water during the day. Green and blue-green algae dominated at midday. Maximum density of zooplankton (584 indiv. dm-3) was recorded at 6 h followed by 10 h and 14 h.
