The article discusses a computational procedure for the determination of organisational parameters of rhythmic production, typical e.g. of medium and larger enterprises in the furniture and machine industry. Based on the computational procedure a computer programme was developed in the form of a relational database. The designed database structure is presented: tables, queries and forms. The proposed solution accelerates computations during planning and facilitates analysis of numerous organisation variants for rhythmic production at a considerably reduced labour consumption of such activity in comparison to computations performed using a calculator or spreadsheets. The developed programme may be a useful planning tool in the departments in charge of production setup in enterprises with the lot production system.
An aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of Circovac vaccine in two Polish pig herds affected by post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS) and reproductive failure. The effectiveness of vaccination was assessed indirectly by analysis of production performance of the examined herds. It was found that Circovac is extremely efficient in reducing losses attributed to PMWS and controlling the disease. Analysis of production parameters after vaccination showed significant improvement in the nursery and finishing sectors. Post-weaning mortality dropped nearly five times in herd P and 2.5 times in herd D. Mortality among fatteners decreased by half in both herds. Additionally, significant improvement was observed concerning average daily weight gains of weaners and fatteners. Despite the considerable benefits of vaccination in nursery and finishing pigs, a tendency to increase reproductive parameters was observed. The most striking differences concerned returns to oestrus and abortion rates, which reached more favourable levels even compared to the period before the PMWS episode. This observation suggests that subclinical infections with PCV2 may have negative effects on the reproduction.
The aim of the conducted studies was to determine the run of fattening and slaughter value of imported hybrid pigs: L × Y × D. The uniform nutrition and management was employed; the pigs were fattened from body weight 30 to 115–120 kg. For 4433 animals, who completed fattening and were slaughtered, very good production results were obtained: mean daily body gains – 989 g, feed conversion – 2.88 kg/kg; meatiness – 58.86%; participation of carcasses in classes S and E – 92.9% in total. The obtained results indicate a very good, and, first of all, repeatable quality of the examined hybrid fatteners in respect of traits which are economically important for meat producers and meat industry. They are also the evidence of high and stabilized genetic potential of purebred populations of animals, employed in three-breed commercial crossbreeding, serving for production of piglets for fattening.
Models of pork production profitability in years 2002–2004 have been constructed and analyzed. The links between the producers of pork and zones of raw material deliveries in Grodno region have been analyzed. Dependence of the profitability of pig–breeding production on parameters most influencing it in Grodno region has been established. Some directions of raising the efficiency of the branch have been suggested.
Summary. Cheese yield is defined as the amount of cheese, expressed in kilograms, obtained from 100 kg of milk. It is a very important parameter: the higher the recovered percentage of solids, the greater is the amount of cheese obtained and therefore gains in economic terms. The definition of cheese yield, or how to express yield, is important in two main applications: 1. Economic control of cheesemaking; 2. Expressing the results of cheesemaking experiments. Cheese yield is affected by many factors including milk composition, amount and genetic variants of casein, milk quality, somatic cell count (SCC) in milk, milk pasteurization, coagulant type, vat design, curd firmness at cutting, and manufacturing parameters.
The aim of the presented investigations was to analyse the influence of parameters of particleboards production on cutting properties of boards. Parameters that varied were temperature (180 and 220 °C) and pressure (2.5 and 4.0 MPa). Factors to define the cutting properties were: the work of fracture and the work of chip formation. Those factors describe the general work of cutting. Sharp and blunt tools were used. Cutting tests were carried out by using an equipped microtome technique.
The aim of the study was to determine trends for genetic and production parameters in a population of New Hampshire N-11 laying hens over 8 generations. Individual performance testing included body weight at 33 weeks of age (g), egg weight at 30 weeks of age (g), age at puberty expressed as days of age at first egg (days), and number of eggs laid to 39 weeks of age. As a result of implementing the genetic improvement programme based on NOVASEL electronic data processing system, egg production was increased, age at first egg was advanced and body weight of the chickens decreased in the N-11 line. The analysis of estimates of effective population size (Ne) and coefficients of inbreeding (Fx) shows that the cockerel and hen mating system used for reproduction effectively protects the population from an increase in inbreeding.
