Discussions on ecological agriculture in Poland are much affected by foreign input. This is demonstrated mainly in the arguments presented, terms used, and also by the kind of examples referred to. It makes some problems to appear far removed from reality. Comprehensive studies on the state of the Polish agriculture, its development and the balance with nature are yet to be completed. The author presents the past of agriculture and natural environment, their transformation throughout history and the shape of the modern Polish agriculture. In considering the environmental aspects of agriculture, the author discusses the impact of agriculture on the environment and how nutritionally valuable food can be produced by it.
Mangrove vegetation covering swampy coasts of tropical regions représentes a unique habitat. It includes trees and shrubs able to withstand temporary inundation by sea water and tolerating high concentrations of salt in the environment. The mangrove formation protect coast from erosion, accumulate sediment, aiding land expansion, and provides the transitional zone between land and aquatic habitats. But intensive logging which depleted the mangrove formations in the last decades could bring about irreversible destruction of these ecosystems.
