From the seeds of S. nodosa iridoid, phenolic acid and saccharide fractions were obtained by column chromatography. The following compounds were detected in the fractions by chromatographic methods: iridoids - harpagide, harpagoside, harpagide acetate; phenolic acids - ferulic, vanillic, p-coumaric, p-liydroxybenzoic, caffeic, protocatechuic; saccharides - glucose, fructose, saccharose, raffinose. An oil was isolated with yield amounting to 22%. The contents of fatty acids were determined by gas chromatography: palmitic acid - 8,32%, stearic acid - 1,5%, oleic acid - 13,24%, linoleic acid - 62,81% and linolenic acid - 13,79%.The presence of ß-sitosterol was detected in the oil. A high dietetic and therapeutic value of the oil was indicated, which is due to a considerable content of linoleic acid and to the presence of ß-sitosterol.
Using GC were detected the presence and determined the contents? of 11 phenolic acid in Flores Bellidis and 10 in Herba Tropaeoli in fractions obtained before and after hydrolysis. The value of phenolic acids from the point of view of therapeutical properties of the investigated materials is discussed in the paper.
Two iridoid glucosides have isolated from above - and underground parts of Veronica triphyllos L. The compounds have been identified by spectroscopic methods as 8-epiloganin and 6-0-vanilloylcatalpol. Furthermore, the presence of aucubin and catalpol has been confirmed. In phenolic fraction the following acids: vanillic, p-hydroxybenozic, protocatechuic, sinapic, ferulic, p-coumaric, caffeic and p-hydroxyphenylacetic were found.
Occurrence of 13 phenolic acids, mainly in bounded form, in Gentiana lutea L. roots was ascertained. Free phenolic acids content m pharmacopoeial raw materials keeping about one year in store condition was greater than in raw material harvesting from natural places and studying in a short time after harvest. Taking into consideration content of free and bounded phenolic acids, sinapic acid in pharmacopoeial raw materials and p-coumarie acid in fresh raw material have dominated. In G. lutea root the presence of chinic acid has been identificated for the first time.
Stosując chromatografię kolumnową wyodrębniono z liści Verbascum olympicum Boiss. glukozyd z grupy irydoidów, który zidentyfikowano metodami spektroskopowymi jako kwas genipozydowy. Jest on pierwszym związkiem irydoidowym o strukturze 10-węglowej aglikonu znalezionym w rodzaju Verbascum.
Heavy and transition metals are of special importance from the ecotoxicological point of view, both because of the high toxicity of compounds containing in these metals and because of their accumulation in various organisms. Information on their content in plants and animals is of great botanical, nutritional and environmental interest. Some of the heavy and transition metals are toxic when their concentrations exceed certain values. After applying a microwave-assisted high pressure digestion system, a highly sensitive analytical technique based on ion chromatography under isocratic eluent flow-rate conditions (0.3 mL/min) was used. A bifunctional ion-exchange column (IonPac CS 5A, Dionex, Sunnyvale, CA, US A) together with PDCA (pyridine-2.6 dicarboxylic acid) eluent was applied. Detection of all metal ions was carried out by UVVis spectrophotometry (at 530 nm) after a post-column derivatization reaction applying 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR). The selected method of digestion of plant sample and the application of the optimized chromatographic system to heavy metal analysis of Hyssopus officinalis L. are presented in this work. Linear and non-linear calibration curves for all ions were constructed using a weighted least-squares (WLS) regression model in order to estimate properly detection and quantitation limits obtained during the analysis on IonPac CS 5A column. The LO Ds for all the chromatographic tests were determined using Hubaux-Vos’ method.
