The studies were carried out in 1983-1990 in four sites of large-area sprinkling machines located in Kujawy. Effects of sprinkling irrigation of fodder crops and pastures were determined for light and medium-heavy soils against growing seasons varied in precipitation and temperature. The results of irrigation decreased from dry and warm years to wet and cold ones, irrespectively of plant species. In dry and medium years the highest effects of sprinkling irrigation were obtained in silage maize and grasses in field cultivation for green fodder. The effects of sprinkling, irrigation of alfalfa and pastures on light soils were more than twice as high as on medium-heavy soils.
