Monuments, apart from those that are totally unique, have to be used somehow today. Their survival depends on introduction of modern functions and users. It is difficult to imagine a better adaptation than a peculiar brand of continuation and use: the house of Maria and Jerzy Kuncewicz in Kazimierz on the Vistula River, the residence of the outstanding writer and her husband (who was a social activist and politician). It has been left unchanged under the terms of her last will. At present it is a museum dedicated to their memory and works, as well as a socalled „house of creative work”. The Kuncewicze Foundation cares for this museum. This is extraordinary in that Kuncewiczówka has no permanent staff, receives no steady financial support and generates practically no income. In the author’s opinion Kuncewiczówka should have a permanent financial and organizational basis.
