The St. James Church in Sandomierz, which once belonged to the Dominican Friars, was erected about the middle of the XIII Century by a north-ltalian construction workshop. It is one of the most important monuments of the early Dominican architecture and an unusually beautiful example of the brick architecture of Central Europe (first in Małopolska Province). Since 1988, the church and the monastery complex have been completely restored and preserved. The author, a member of the scientific team supervising the restoration, describes threats to the building and the course of activities which will restore this architectural landmark's form and appearance.
