Topic of good governance is an issue of great importance to quality of governance, understood as the manner and effects of governance, which basically amounts to administrative action. Recently the terms ‘governance’ and ‘good governance’ are being increasingly used in the literature. Bad governance is being increasingly regarded as one of the root causes of all bad things within communities and public administration on the local as well as on the national level. That is why the paper shows the main role of good governance in the functioning of a commune in a subregion and its influence on the creation of development strategies and on improving of living conditions in the local areas.
The development of the spiral ganglion was studied in steps sections of 81 human temporal bones. By the 8th week, the spiral ganglion has already separated from the vestibular ganglion. At 13 weeks two distinct populations are observed that correspond to neuron and Schwann cells. At 15 weeks the spiral ganglion has increased its distance from the cochlear duct and is surrounded by mesenchyme near the scala tympani. At 14 weeks a gradual decrease in the nucleus-to-cell area ratio was observed in spiral ganglion neurons that may reflect a morphological adaptation to function. By the 23rd week the modiolus begins to ossify and the spiral ganglion is surrounded by bony trabeculae. The time course of spiral ganglion development follows that of the stria vascularis and organ of Corti, although maturation changes are still observed in the neuronal population even beyond 20 weeks.

Is tourism the way of rural areas development?

The paper discusses problem of rural tourism and agritourism role in the healing of the economic situation of rural areas, especially in a province with the smallest average farm size and favourable natural conditions - namely in Malopolska. Agritourism (farm tourism) as a part of rural tourism is often seen as an opportunity to expand and diversify employment and incomes. But in spite expectations of rural economists agritourism neither solved the farmers’ income problems nor has been developing as expected. Reality of agritourism development was evaluated on the basis of conducted surveys. The perspective of farm tourism development should be seen as a integral part of structural changes of rural economy. In rural tourism development the natural environment has particularly important role and value as the main factor attracting visitors. The level of services offered by agritourism farms has become more and more important. The second important factor signalled by potential tourists is such farms specialisation. Conducted surveys confirmed appreciation of specialisation both by farmers and potential tourists. Farmers indicated financial problems of elevating services standards and specialisation.
The paper concentrates on the evaluation of the phenomenon of differentiated perception of development in the context of widespread globalisation and integration. The author has shown the modern trends in perceiving the contemporary timeline and developmental approach, as well as the sustainability aspects of the developmental process and different types and features of the developmental ordering. Additionally, the recom- mendations for a model development course have been presented.
Recently the increasing prevalence of gastrointestinal diseases, including neoplasm, has resulted in the necessity of characterising not only the tumours, but also healthy mucosa. Research into the morphological changes of healthy mucosa under different experimental conditions, including drugs, special diets and the use of probiotic bacteria, is greatly facilitated by the availability of animal models. In spite of the widespread use of mice in gastrointestinal research, there is a lack of information on the qualitative and quantitative histological characteristics of the intestinal mucosa of the mouse. The aim of this study was to assess the morphological characteristics and the postnatal development of the small intestine of wild type mice — C57BL/6J. The mice were aged either 5 weeks or 12 weeks. The 12-week-old mice had been weaned at the age of 5 weeks. After dissection the small intestine was divided into 5 equal portions and randomly chosen microscopical sections from each were stained with haematoxylin and eosin. The parameters describing the morphology of the small intestine (villus height, depth of the crypt, villus width near the crypt, width of the villus connective tissue near the crypt, thickness of the muscular layer and the height of the enterocytes and their nuclei) were evaluated under a light microscope. In both age groups the height and width of the villi decreased, while the thickness of the muscular layer increased in the distal direction. The height of the enterocytes decreased and the height of the enterocyte nucleus increased towards the colon in both age groups. The depth of the crypts was greater in the younger animals than in the older ones. Our data provides the baseline morphological description of the small intestinal mucosa in wild type mice, strain C57BL/6J, which can be used as a reference for testing the influence of drugs, toxins, nutrients and inborn mutations on the mouse intestine.
1. Distribution of c-Fos positive nuclei in: ventral tegmental area, substantia nigra, periaqueductal gray. 2. Appearance of calbindin-D28k, calretinin and parvalbumin in midbrain neurons that are engaged in the stress response. 3. Changes of c-Fos and calcium-binding proteins expression during maturation. The material consisted of Wistar rats of age between 0 and 90 days. The OF exposure was applied throughout 10 min and 90 min before the death of the animals. The brain sections were double stained using the antibodies against c-Fos, CB, CR or PV. Our results showed that in all studied nuclei age-related increase of c-Fos expression (without changing of its distribution properties) was found. PV didn't show any co-localization with c-Fos in neurons of studied regions at any ages, however some PV-immunoreactive (PV-ir) basket-like structures around c-Fos-immunoreactive (c-Fos-ir) neurons were observed. In the youngest group of rats c-Fos-ir cells and cells immunoreactive for CB and CR constituted separate neuronal populations. During maturation increases in the level of their co-localization with c-Fos was observed. We may conclude that in adult rat midbrain structures CB-immunoreactive (CB-ir) and CR-immunoreactive (CR-ir) cells (probably projection neurons) are mainly activated in the stress response following OF exposure. In the contrary PV-ir cells has only an indirect (modulatory) influence upon the c-Fos-ir cells.
In foetuses of 9 and 10 weeks the articular disc presents a more cellular structure with bands of connective tissue fibres. It is connected with the articular capsule and lateral pterygoid muscle. During weeks 11 and 12 there is an increase in collagenous fibres and fusiform cells are located mainly close to the surface of the disc.
