The experiment aimed to test the different cultivation systems and wintering places of few garden pansy cultivars under climatic conditions of Western Pomerania. The plant cultivation and wintering places were as follows: in cold greenhouse or plastic tunnel; in the ground covered with agrofibre; in the ground without any cover. It was also examined, whether the growth retardant daminozide (registered in Poland as B-Nine 85 SP), used mainly to prevent the shoot elongation at higher temperature did affect the useful value of pansies. All the examined pansy cultivars from the greenhouse or plastic tunnel were found to be of much higher decorative value than the pansies from the ground covered with agrofibre. The growth retardant B-Nine 85 SP significantly affected morphological traits of plants, stunting growth and improving plant conformation if applied at proper stage of the seedlings.
