The bionomy and ecology of Amphorophora idaei (Bőrn.) on raspberry was studied under insectary conditions and in two rasberry farm plantations in 1997–2002. In 2001 and 2002 the development and fecundity of A. idaei under controlled conditions were also observed.
Myzus ascalonicus DONCASTER, 1946 is an anholocyclic and polyphagous species. It may infest plants of over 20 families, most frequently Alliaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Compositae, Brassicaceae, Liliaceae and Rosaceae. It is almost worldwide distributed, also in Subantarctic regions. In winter in Poland it can continue developing by infesting greenhouse and house plants. The study was conducted in 2009–2010. The paper defines the length of prereproduction, reproduction and postreproduction stages of wingless M. ascalonicus females developing in winter. Also the total lifespan and fecundity of females was calculated along with demographic parameters of M. ascalonicus population.
The first record of Muscaphis musci is given from Poland. The alate viviparous females and male were described.
Myzus ornatus (Laing, 1932) is an anholocyclic and polyphagous species. In winter it can continue developing by infesting decorative plants in greenhouses and houses. This paper verified the length of the pre-reproductive, reproductive and post-reproductive stages of wingless and winged female M. ornatus that develop in winter months. The total life span and female fecundity were determined. The basic demographic parameters of a M. ornatus population were calculated. Significant statistical differences between the post-reproductive phase, life span and fecundity of wingless and winged females are presented. During the development of one generation, the population increases 37.41 fold. The ability to develop in winter, in greenhouses and houses, means it is possible for M. ornatus to infest host plants early in spring, as soon as temperatures become advantageous for plant development.
After a two-year study conducted on trees and shrubs of the New Zoological Garden in Poznań 57 aphid species on 60 plant taxa were found. The collected specimens belonged to two superfamilies: Adelgoidea and Aphidoidea.
Mid-forest meadows have a high natural value, due to preserving unique meadow and ecotone biotopes, similar to the natural state. Due to their dissimilarity, they also had a considerable effect on the functioning of forest ecosystems they border. The aim of the study conducted in 2006-2010 in the Bukówka river valley was to assess the natural values of mid-forest meadows with the Oświt method [2000] based on 140 phytosociological records, to estimate the economic value by evaluating dry matter yield and to calculate the fodder value of sward. Richness and floristic diversity of mid-forest meadows was observed, resulting mainly from the mosaic character of habitats and intensity of use. The studied communities from the classes Phragmitetea, Potametea, Lemnetea, as well as Molinio-Arrhenatheretea generally presented a poor quality, due to a very late time of cutting and excessive moisture of most habitats.
In the research carried out at „Biedrusko” Protected Landscape Area in the years 2003-2005 in shrubberies of Rhamno-Prunetea class 15 species of aphids were found in the shaking method on the bushes. The species most numerously represented were: Phorodon humuli, Aphis fabae, Aphis sambuci and Hyalopterus pruni. 48 taxons were collected by sweeping from herbaceous plants during three years. Macrosiphoniella artemisiae obtained the dominant status in 2003, as did Acyrthosiphon pisum in the years 2004-2005. The richest finds were collected with the method of Moericke’s traps: 118 different aphid species. The results of aphid catchability in colour traps were used in a comparative analysis of aphid fauna of the studied thicket zones – the initial, the terminal and the margin zone.
During the study carried out between 2004 and 2008 in the Eastern Beskidy beech forests 78 aphid species were recorded. Among those species five ecological groups of aphids were further distinguished. Of those five groups the highest percentage share was recorded for the forest, monophagous, and monoecious species.
