The foxes cages from experimental group were blacked-out by tarpaulin for two consecutive months /from 1st August to 30th September/. In experimental and control groups were 3 undergroups: 1/ polish polar foxes, 2/ crosses with 50% genes of norwegian foxes /F₁/ and 3/ crosses with 25% genes of norwegian foxes /R₁/. The animals from every litter were allocated to both of group considering sex. The artificial abbreviation of daylight advantageously influenced on breeding's effectiveness of polish fox and crosses with norwegian fox. Economic effects showed profit 8.6% of crosses R₁ fur value as well as 21.7 % of polish foxes fur value and 20.4 % of crosses F₁ fur value.
The 439 furs of young foxes were studied after killing in three consecutive years. The estimate of exterior and cover of foxes were made by different arbiters in every year. The furs were classificated and estimated by the same sortier, on the farm in the every year. The supravital estimate took over total score, body size and conformation, colour type of cover, colour clarity, density of cover and lenght of hair. The estimate of furs took over class, size, defects of colour type, defects of colour clarity, coat category and defects of felt. The results supravital estimation give not good criterium for estimate quality of fur. The correction licence estimate on year and sex of animals increased accordance licence criterium with results fur estimate. The autors shoved different accordance licence estimate with furs estimate in each year.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the activity of antioxidant enzymes in horses diagnosed with recurrent airway obstruction (RAO). The study was conducted on a group of 40 horses, various breeds, divided into two groups, aged 8-15 years, including 15 males and 25 mares. Blood was collected for antioxidant analyses from 20 recurrent airway obstruction (RAO)-affected horses and 20 healthy control horses. The authors determined the activity of glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase in the blood. Average reductase activity in a group of healthy horses was 79.7 U/g, while in the group of RAO-affected horses it was 39.7 U/g. The average activity of glutathione peroxidase in the group of healthy horses was 47.8 U/g, while in the group of RAO-affected horses it was 37.8 U/g. The average activity of glutathione S-transferase in the group of healthy horses was 39.8 U/g, while in the group of RAO-affected horses it was 21.8 U/g. The resulting research indicates that oxidative stress is a consequence of chronic airway inflammation in the course of RAO in horses.
