The aim of this work was to determine the casual agent of leaf spotting of Salvia farinacea and possible methods of its control. The leaves of S. farinacea grown in flowerbed conditions showed disease symptoms browning spots. The results of mycology analisis revealed that the disease as caused by Alternaria alternata. Piraklostrobin (Signum 33 WG), grapefruit extract (Biosept Active) and tiofanat‐methyl (Topsin 500 M) greatly inhibited the growth and development of A. alternata. Total inhibition of the mycelium growth was observed after using piraklostrobin at the concentration of 250 μg/cm³. Grapefruit extract and tiofanat‐methyl at the concentration of 250 μg/cm³ limited the mycelium growth in 70% and 80% respectively. Preventively and curatively use synthetic analogs of strobilurins Topsin and Biosept significantly reduced the development A. alternata.

The effect of methyl jasmonate (JA-Me) on the growth and development of fhree isolates of Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht. f. sp. callistephi (Foc), f. sp. dianthi (Fod) and f. sp. narcissi (Fon) was investigated. JA-Me added to PDA (Merck) at the concentration of 100 μg/cm³ limited the growth of Foc, Fod and Fon by 60%. JA-Me at the concentration of 500 μg/cm³ totally inhibited the mycelium growth of Foc, Fod and Fon. JA-Me vapor showed stronger inhibitory effect on the mycelium of Foc, Fod and Fon; at a concentration of 20 μg/cm³ totally inhibited mycelium growth of tested special forms of F. oxysporum. Germination of spores of Foc, Fod and Fon on the Komad's medium was totally inhibited by JA-Me at a concentration of 400 μg/cm³.

Celem badań było określenie wpływu etefonu (etylenu) na wzrost i rozwój Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. tulipae. Etefon silnie hamował wzrost grzybni F. oxysporum f. sp. tulipae na pożywce agarowo-ziemniaczano-glukozowej (PDA). Etefon zastosowany w koncentracji 200 µg·cm-3 ograniczył powierzchnię grzybni izolatów (Fot 0, Fot 218 i Fot 242) w 85%, nie nastąpiło natomiast całkowite zahamowanie wzrostu grzybni patogena. Etefon dodany do selektywnej pożywki Komada w stężeniu 500 µg·cm-3 ograniczył o 90% rozwój jednostek tworzących kolonie. Wyniki badań własnych zostały przedyskutowane z dostępnymi danymi w literaturze o antygrzybowym działaniu etefonu.

The leaves of Kalanchoe blossfeldiana, a succulent grown in greenhouse conditions showed disease symptoms, such as yellow and gradually browning spots. The disease was caused by Pestalotia sp. In detached healthy leaves of K. blossfeldiana kept in the inverted position at natural light conditions red-violet anthocyanins were produced and accumulated. In detached leaves with disease symptoms caused by Pestalotia sp. kept in the same light conditions anthocyanins were not produced formed the disease spots at a distance about 5–10 mm from. The fungicides: Biosept Active, Signum 33 WG i Topsin M 500 SC significantly inhibited the growth and development of the fungi Pestalotia sp.

The effect of gums formed in stone-fruit trees on the in vitro growth and development of Verticillium albo-atrum and V. dahliae cultured on Czapek Dox Agar (CzDA), Malt Extract Agar (MEA) and Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) was investigated. Addition of gums at concentration 5 mg/cm3 to all used media greatly stimulated mycelium growth of V. albo-atrum and V. dahliae and sporulation of the pathogen. Surface of colony of the pathogens after 8 days of culturing on CzDA, MEA and PDA supplemented with gums increased twice on the first two media and three fold on PDA as compare to the control.
