There was assessed the degree of animal samples contamination with chlorinated hydrocarbons and toxic elements of the Zgorzelec—Bogatynia district. There was taken into account 76 bovine tissue samples, 140 milk samples and 23 eggs collected between 1988 and 1990. The results of the study showed that in that heavy polluted industrial area the level of toxic elements and organochlorine compounds were in general low. However, the concentration of Pb and PCB in milk samples taken directly from cows was several times higher than that in other regions of Poland. Such differences were not observed in milk samples taken from a creamery.
