Poland's achievements in terms of the integrated approach to environmental protection and economic approach to social justice are considerable. The Polish experience in this field corresponds to the tendencies in the European Union and in highly developed countries. However, this is rarely appreciated by Polish decision makers or the mass media. Due to this, the challenge - implementation of sustainable development in Poland - should be a starting point for the discussions on the National Development Plan 2007-2013. The European Commission considers sustainable development a basic tool in creating development policies and European legislation, and forecasting costs.
