In her article, the author presents the results of analyses relating, to comparison of the trade enterprises' economic and financial condition against the background of the enterprise sector in 2001-2005. She focuses her attention on evaluation of earnings and net financial result. The evaluation shows that the trade enterprises' situation has been improved in the period being surveyed but there is increasing a strong concentration of trade enterprises' activities in the 5 most important voivodships — Mazowieckie (Mazovian), Śląskie (Silesian), Wielkopolskie (Great Poland), Małopolskie (Little Poland) and Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian). And this means that the trade enterprises operating in other regions of Poland have poorer opportunities for development and a worse economic and financial situation. And this indirectly affects the level of competitiveness of these regions.

Celem niniejszych rozważań jest dokonanie oceny wybranych obszarów sytuacji finansowej przedsiębiorstw zaliczanych do sekcji usługowych, stąd też artykuł ma typowo badawczy charakter. W artykule wykorzystano wyniki analiz sytuacji finansowej przedsiębiorstw w latach 2009-2012, w których obserwowane było dość wyraźnie zjawisko spowolnienia gospodarczego. Analizy te oparto na ocenie kształtowania się przychodów, kosztów, wyników finansowych oraz rentowności obrotu. Przeprowadzona ocena wykazała pogorszenie sytuacji finansowej przedsiębiorstw większości sekcji usługowych w 2012 roku w stosunku do lat 2009-2010, co było zapowiedzią również niekorzystnych tendencji obserwowanych w pierwszej połowie 2013 roku. Zwiększyło się tempo wzrostu osiąganych przez przedsiębiorstwa przychodów całkowitych, jednak w wielu sekcjach przedsiębiorstw usługowych tempo wzrostu kosztów było wyższe niż przychodów. Tym samym uległy zmniejszeniu wyniki finansowe brutto i netto. Pogorszeniu uległa również rentowność obrotu wielu przedsiębiorstw usługowych. Z tych też względów można sformułować wniosek, iż sytuacja finansowa przedsiębiorstw usługowych ulega dynamicznym zmianom, tak jak dynamiczne są warunki rynkowe, w których przychodzi im funkcjonować.

Advantages and disadvantages of enterprise activity in network organisations - some aspects

In her article, the author focused her attention on advantages and disadvantages of cooperation undertaken by enterprises operating within the framework of network organisations in the Polish economy. Establishing cooperation by enterprises may become nowadays one of the bases of formation of their development strategies. In the conditions of high variability of the environment, the growing uncertainty of enterprise activity, there gain in importance the concepts making use of definite relationships and partnership cooperation with other entities. There appear new forms of that cooperation, new organisational structures, inter alia, network organisations. Affiliation to them is connected with achievement by enterprises of definite benefits, while, on the other hand, it may result in occurrence of some threats. The empirical research carried out in 2013 in a group of 363 enterprises belonging to various network organisations conform that really enterprises achieve definite benefits carrying out their activities within the framework of network. And they are decidedly more emphasised than definite threats.

In the article, the author presents the results of empirical surveys carried out in the autumn 2005 on the group of almost 250 small and medium enterprises. The surveys concerned, inter alia, assessment of use of various-type tools for supporting development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The attention is paid to subsidies from the Polish Government carried out within the framework of governmental programmes aimed at SMEs and grants from the PHARE funds used in 2003-2005. Use of those subsidies for financing consulting, training, information and financial services at SMEs is discussed.

In her article, the author presents the results of analyses relating, inter alia, to comparison of the trade enterprises' economic and financial condition against the background of the sector of enterprises in 2001-2005. She focuses her attention on evaluation of profitability of enterprises' turnover and liquidity, considering these two spheres of carrying out a relative assessment of enterprises' activities effectiveness as the most important. The evaluation unanimously shows that trade enterprises' situation has improved, their profitability and liquidity have grown over that period but, unfortunately, indicators of that effectiveness are lower than those for enterprises as a whole. And such a situation affects perspectives of trade enterprises' development which are poorer than those for the sector of enterprises as a whole.

This article constitutes a presentation of the selected results of empirical surveys among 300 enterprises that were carried out in the autumn 2004. Those surveys related to awareness of the subject matters of controlling and its tools used in the economic practice, both in their current activities and in a long-term perspective. In this article, the author pays attention to the terms and conditions of strategic planning at enterprises, the decision-making grounds for those processes and the use at them of various factors related to identification of the trends in changes in their environment, and in the firm's internal resources. There are also presented the results of surveys concerning determination how strategic analyses of this type are carried out, whether or not at one's own, whether or not they are outsourced, and, finally, whether or not such analyses are not carried out at all.

W artykule skoncentrowano uwagę na analizie zmian strategii finansowania przedsiębiorstw handlowych funkcjonujących w Polsce w latach 2008-2011. Głównym celem było zbadanie, czy spowolnienie gospodarcze, któremu podlegała polska gospodarka w badanym okresie wywołała określone skutki w strategiach finansowania przedsiębiorstw handlowych. Artykuł ma charakter badawczy, wykorzystano w nim metody analizy oceny danych finansowych dostępnych w opracowaniach GUS. W warstwie teoretycznej artykułu wskazano na wybrane, ale i możliwe do zastosowania w praktyce gospodarczej strategie finansowania przedsiębiorstw. W warstwie empirycznej artykułu uzyskane wyniki analiz danych finansowych poddano konfrontacji z założeniami teoretycznymi. Na bazie tych ocen można sformułować wniosek, iż działalność przedsiębiorstw handlowych w Polsce opiera się na wykorzystaniu ofensywnych strategii finansowych. Pozwalają one z jednej strony osiągać korzyści w postaci wysokiej stopy zwrotu na zaangażowanych kapitałach przez właścicieli, optymalizować średnioważony koszt zainwestowanych kapitałów, z drugiej zaś mogą przyczyniać się do powstawania problemów z utrzymaniem właściwego poziomu wypłacalności oraz barier w zakresie pozyskiwania dodatkowych źródeł finansowania na rozwój przedsiębiorstwa. Wymagają też odpowiednich umiejętności zarządczych w sferze sterowania przepływami środków pieniężnych, co w praktyce funkcjonowania przedsiębiorstw handlowych nie jest tak oczywiste.

This article constitutes a presentation of the selected results of empirical surveys among 300 enterprises that were carried out in the autumn 2004. Those surveys related to awareness of the subject matters of controlling and its tools used in the economic practice, both in their current activities and in a long-term perspective. An interesting issue in these surveys was determination what areas of enterprises' functioning, as well as their environment, are observed permanently that constitute the basis for operational planning used in controlling. In her article, the author presents also the issues related to determination, in what time horizon the enterprises' financial planning, which depicts the effect of combination of the strategic and operational planning as well as composing the partial plans into the overall plan is performed, or, in other words, how the processes of budgeting at the enterprises in question looked like.

In her article, the author presented the selected elements of evaluation of the economic and financial situation of service enterprises in the two approaches. First of them comprises a general financial condition of enterprises in the period from 2003 to June 2009, while the second one illustrates assessment of that condition in the enterprise-size profile of the selected service sections. Based on the presented deliberations, one may draw a conclusion that in the period in question there occurred a clear, positive change in enterprises' financial condition what is particularly evident from the moment of Poland's accession to the European Union to the end of 2008.
