According to the recommendations of experts healthy and nutritious, well balanced and varied diet should contain fruit and vegetables. This large group of products, having low energetic value, is an excellent source of various valuable and necessary for normal functioning of human organisms constituents, such as bioactive antioxidants, minerals and dietary fibre, juices being processed products have slightly higher glycemic index (CI) than the raw material used for their production, however, are still classified as low CI products (below 55). Taking into consideration energetic value of juices it may be concluded that their consumption at moderate amounts, it is 7 portion a day (200 ml), does not affect body weight. However, they supply numerous, valuable nutrients. A myth is also negative influence on teeth health of juices, especially when taken during the main meals. New EU directive for juices does not allow use of sugar for their production; however, they may be produced with the addition of puree, mineral components and vitamins. This will result in composition closer to the raw material used in their production and will increase pro-health benefits resulting from their consumption.
