The objective of this article is to present the impact of Internet as an up-to-date source of information on building consumers' opinions on and knowledge of foods and nutrition. The formulated objective allowed for discussion in the article of the following issues: 1) development of Internet in Poland, with a particular consideration given to e-commerce and trade in foods; 2) Internet as an important source of secondary data acquisition; 3) a modern consumer, prosument, building their knowledge on the basis of messages from the mass media, particularly from Internet, and 4) Internet as a source of information on new food products.
