Investigations were performed on meat originating from 22 carcasses of wild boars ripening in temperature 4 - 6°C during 12 days. During ripening process determinations of selected technological proprieties have been conducted. During long period of ripening low pH value which affected small changes of water holding ability and thermal drip was observed. Investigating tenderness of meat an essential improvement between 1st and 6th day of ripening was found. To summarize obtained results it can be concluded , that in spite of long ripening of wild boars carcasses only slight changes of technological properties of meat were observed.
The litter decomposition plays an important role in nutrient circle of grassland ecosystem, the water holding ability of litter and physical and chemical characteristics have been studied exclusively over the past century. However, the effect of litter accumulation on plant community in desert steppe under fenced condition was little known. In this study, four typical plant communities were employed to identify the effects of litter accumulation on plant communities. The results showed the trend of litter accumulation amount in the four different types of plant communities was best represented by Birk model. The accumulation of litter had different effects on the number of seedlings. When litter accumulation reached 300–400 g cm⁻², green-up dates advance 7 days. The amount of seedling germination and the number of plant species reached a peak. Meanwhile, plant density, coverage, average height, richness, and evenness reached maximum values. It was concluded that when opposite fencing time was about 6 years, and the optimum amount of litter accumulation was about 300–400 g cm⁻², which could advance the green-up dates and increase the number of plant seedlings, and also improve or maintain community stability. Such a notion has to be taken into account for the development of an improved policy for environmental management in desert steppe.
Roses cv. 'Trixx' were grown in 4 different slabs of mineral wool (100 cm length, 15 cm width and 7.5 cm height), which were placed on specially constructed racks in a greenhouse. The cultivation method using bent shoots was used. The studied growth media were: rockwool slabs - Master and Pargro which had a horizontal fibrous structure, Bomat slabs with a homogeneous structure and glasswool Cultilene slabs with a homogeneous structure. The physical properties of mineral wool slabs were obtained from 15 cm long and 15 cm width samples. The samples were taken from slabs before cultivation, and periodically from a greenhouse during the 2.5 year growing period (6, 12, 18, 24 and 30 months after planting). The bulk density increased and total porosity decreased in the Master and Cultilene slabs as early as after six months of cultivation. Other changes in the remaining slabs were not evident until the end of the cultivation stage. The air-water properties depended on the cultivation time and were very different at -4 cm H2O. More stable values of air-water properties were observed at -10 cm H2O. Usually in the beginning of the cultivation period, water content was lower - especially at the -10 to -5 0 cm H2O range of water potential.
