The rheological behaviour of concentrated strawberry juice has been studied over a wide range of temperatures (10-60°C) and concentrations (50-67.1°Bx), using rotational rheometer with coaxial cylinders as a measuring system. On the base of the obtained results it was shown, that concentrated strawberry juice has a Newtonian behaviour. The values of viscosity strongly depend on temperature and soluble solids content and were in the range from 8.6 to 541.2 mPaˇs. The effect of the temperature on the viscosity of that juice was described by an Arrhenius equation. To study effect of concentration on the viscosity, the power-law and exponential equations were used. Finally, two equations described combined effect of temperature and soluble solids content on the viscosity of concentrated strawberry juice were obtained.
The features of stabilization of fluid velocity in pipings are observed in the article. We propose a practical method of the calculation. Proposed method of modeling for calculation of the transient time with the receipt of the fluid flow in a large temperature difference between the fluid and the environment temperature.
In the present work the temperature effect on rheological properties of Portuguese honeys was studied for the fi rst time. Two unifl oral honeys – heather and rosemary – and a polyflower honey were analyzed. All honeys showed flow independence over time and behaved as Newtonian fluids at the studied temperature and shear rate ranges. For all honeys it was found that the viscosity decreased with temperature and the rosemary honey was the one that always presented the lowest viscosity at 30°C (6120 mPa·s), 50°C (603 mPa·s) and 70°C (145 mPa·s). The temperature dependence of viscosity was well described by the T B A K equation. Nevertheless, good regression coefficients were also obtained when fitting the experimental data to the Arrhenius model, showing the rosemary honey to be less temperature sensitive. The results obtained in this study are of great interest to beekeepers and industrials that handle and prepare eatable honey-based products because they will be better informed about the best type of honey to use.
Our paper deals with the description of the rheological properties of activated sewage sludge before and after disintegration. There is an assumption that disintegrated activated sewage sludge is able to change rheological properties. These changes probably cause the modification of the structure of activated sewage sludge after disintegration. The reason is that during disintegration, cell walls of organisms (from which the activated sewage sludge is composed) are disturbed. Currently there are not published many papers that deal with rheological properties of disintegrated activated sewage sludge. There is therefore no opportunity to confront our assumption with papers of other authors. The sample of activated sewage sludge was collected from aeration tank of the wastewater treatment plant for 10,000 population equivalent (PE). In our work the following rheological properties were described: temperature dependence on viscosity and the shear stress dependence on shear rate. On the basis of measured data Arrhenius mathematical model has been applied. By using this mathematical model the activation energy has been obtained.
The synthesis and antitumour and antibacterial activity of coumarin and chromone phosphorohydrazones have been reported. This study describes influence of phosphorohydrazones derivatives of coumarin and chromone on the polymerization and viscosity of fibrin. The fibrin polymerization assay was performed by the Shen and Lorand method and the clot viscosity was measured on the basis of Shen and Lorand and Marchi and coworkers methods. Among the eight compounds tested, one coumarin derivative and two chromone derivatives showed significant activity
