W doświadczeniach kośnym i pastwiskowym realizowanych w latach 1995-1998 w RZD IUNG w Grabowie na glebie kompleksu pszennego dobrego porównywano budowę morfologiczną 3 odmian lucerny, uprawianych w mieszankach z trawami (kupkówką pospolitą, kostrzewą łąkową i tymotką łąkową). Uzyskane wyniki wykazały lepszą trwałość odmian Luzelle i Radius w użytkowaniu kośnym. Odmianę Szentesi Róna charakteryzuje niska obsada roślin na 1 m². Użytkowanie pastwiskowe mieszanek powoduje zwiększenie ulistnienia i liczby pędów lucerny.
On a base of achieved results it can be stated that ryegrass share in obtained fodder greatly depended on the variety and performance year, as well as the harvest date (cut). Lolium perenne cultivars included in mixtures significantly affected the differentiation of the sward floristic composition. Share of grasses sown in these grass mixtures (Phleum pratense, Dactylis glomerata) and white clover (Trifolium repens) was much higher in control mixture sward (without Lolium perenne) or in mixtures where lower share of ryegrass was recorded, as weil as in the sward from the first cuts (lower Lolium perenne share). Furthermore, the lack of ryegrass in the sward or its lower share more favored the development of grasses not considered in sown mixtures, particularly Poa trivialis.
In years 1993-1995 experiments were carried out on the behaviour of four cultivars of white clover (Trifolium repens) in a multi-specific sward of production pastures for dairy cows at Brody. In 1993, directly after the first cutting the, white clover seedlings of the following cultivars: Anda, Armena, Roma and Romena were introducted into the sward of paddock situated on half bog and gray brown podzolic soils. During the vegetative season such features as: length of stolons, number and area of leaves were studied. The response of the examined cultivars to the applied conditions varied. Armena and Romena developed well and can be considered as valuable cultivars. The former one, in particular, seems promising and very suitable for permanent pastures for cattle. It is worth nothing that white clover did very well in conditions of sward with domination of meadow bluegrass (Poa pratensis). On the other hand, growth and development of white clover was negatively affected by the presence of quack grass (Elymus repens) and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale).
