Recently the supply situation of agricultural products has received increased attention due to a growing world population, the rising demand for animal products, an increased use of biomass for bioenergy production, highly volatile market for agricultural and food products and climate change, among other things. Therefore, a proper method to represent the total agricultural production is required. With this in mind, this paper provides an international comparative survey of procedures that aggregate agricultural production. In order to identify international best practices with regard to accounting agricultural production, monetary and physical aggregations to measure food supply are analysed. Based on the international comparison, we identify the Austrian feed database and the French model “Foresight feed” as advanced methodological approaches.

Background. Researchers suspect that the accepted adequate ascorbic acid plasma concentration is not being met even after dietary intake of the recommended amount of vitamin C. Current dietary intake recommendation in Poland is 60 mg per day for women and 75 mg per day for man (EAR), while in Western Europe and North America is higher and amounts to 75-90 mg per day. Objective. The paper aimed at studying a correlation between composition of nutrients in daily diet and plasma vitamin C levels in university students. Materials and methods. This study examined diet composition and the nutritional status of ascorbic acid in plasma of 120 university students in Szczecin, Poland. Ascorbic acid was determined in blood plasma using HPLC method. The information concerning diet composition was collected using the method of “7-days food record” prior to blood collection. Results. Plasma ascorbic acid deficiency (<40 μmol/L) was observed in 23% of women and 28% of men. The average plasma ascorbic acid concentration was 48.65 μmol/L in women and 45.61 μmol/L in men. The average intake of vitamin C in women with observed deficiency was average 46.55 mg/day, whereas in men it was 48.56 mg/day. Conclusions. The recommendation of dietary intake of vitamin C in Poland is low in comparison to other countries. Population- based studies are necessary to determine the actual demand for vitamin C in various population groups in Poland.
The aim of the study was to present the conditions for development of food production and distribution of organic products in Podkarpackie voivodeship and to present the opinions of consumers representing various local communities from this part of the country about purchased eco-food. To achieve this objective, a survey was conducted using direct interview method. The study involved a total of 700 residents of Podkarpackie gathered through a purposive sample. The market of organic food products is a future-oriented segment of the food market. Consumers from Podkarpackie voivodeship are of the opinion that increasing the supply of eco-products on the market in this part of the country should apply especially to dairy products, fruits and vegetables, honey, herbs, meat, and bread. The development of the organic food market will be stimulated by, among other things, the increase in demand that results from raising the level of consumer awareness of quality of organic food and its impact on health.
The article attempts to determine the methodological assumptions for further research on the effectiveness of changes in the organization and logistics of supplies in sugar factories. For this purpose, data were collected on historical ways of organizing transport of sugar beets to various sugar factories. Preliminary analysis of the data shows that the direction of development of the organization and logistics of beet deliveries is towards a process fully organized and supervised by individual sugar producers. This approach allows for better use of existing resources and the development of new directions of the organization processes. All actions taken by the sugar sector are aimed at introducing optimization, acceleration of movement and use of the latest communication techniques in order to reduce effort and time in the organization of the process.
