This study presents the method of detection of outliers based on the Akaike information criterion. This method has been applied to experimental data on ash content resulting from the combustion of barley straw.
Until now sandy soils can be considered as one roup having common hydrophysical problems. Therefore, a labo-ratory experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of bagasse as an amendment to improve hydrophysical properties of sandy soil, through the determination of bulk density, aggregate-size distribution, total porosity, hydraulic conductivity, pore-space structure and water retention. To fulfil this objective, sandy soils were amended with bagasse at the rate of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4% on the dry weight basis. The study results demonstrated that the addition of bagasse to sandy soils in between 3 to 4% on the dry weight basis led to a significant decrease in bulk density, hydraulic conductivity, and rapid-drainable pores, and increase in the total porosity, water-holding pores, fine capillary pores, water retained at field capacity, wilting point, and soil available water as compared with the control treatment.
In a field experiment, the influence of the kind, time of application of waste activated sludge and mineral fertilization on the content of chosen heavy metals in the grain and straw of oats and winter rye was investigated. The plants cultivated on the objects fertilized with waste activated sludge did not contain more Cu, Zn and Ni in relation to some parts of plants cultivated on objects with FYM taken as standard object.
The present paper presents the results of research carried out over 1998-2001 which aimed at defining the after-effect of undersown intercrops and straw on the degree of weed infestation and yielding of winter triticale. The experiment involved two factors: I - fertilization with undersown intercrop (control, manure, birdsfoot trefoil, birdsfoot trefoil + Italian ryegrass, Italian ryegrass); II - potato fertilization with barley straw (without straw, with straw). In the first year after organic fertilization table potatoes were cultivated, and in the second year - `Tornado´ cultivar winter triticale. The lowest weed infestation was recorded in the field of winter triticale for the forecrop fertilized with a mixture of birdsfoot trefoil with Italian ryegrass. Potato fertilization with undersown intercrops and barley straw showed a positive after-effect on the grain yield, grain yield structure components, straw yield and total protein yield of winter triticale grain. The highest grain yields, of the highest grain yield structure components values, straw yield, as well as total protein yield of grain were obtained from winter triticale cultivated after potato, under which a mixture of birdsfoot trefoil with Italian ryegrass and barley straw were ploughed-in.
