The effect of dimethoate on sperm was evaluated in 8 New Zealand White rabbits. On the basis of 48 ejaculates collected with an artificial vagina, mean control values of semen indices were calculated. Thereafter, the same rabbits were given orally dimethoate with repeated dose of 30 mg/kg body weight for ten times, every other day. Beginning on the 2nd day of exposure, the semen was collected every fourth day for 50 days. Statistically significant increase of sperm abnormalities lasted till the end of examination was proven in rabbits intoxicated with dimethoate. Transient, significant increase of sperm count in some days of investigation was also observed. Other indicators were maintained on a similar level and after treatment.
