Arogeotechnical improvement of earth structure slopes. The paper presents the problem of slope stability of embankments covered with vegetations. The main issue to introduce vegetation ontoo slopes is the adequate compaction of built-in soils. Plants selection for slope stability ought to be adjusted to a kind of soils and side of slope. Improper soil preparation can cause intensive accelerated erosion on slopes. Slope stability should be analyzed taking into consideration the infl uence of existing vegetations. The presented results shows that simple activity like vegetation establishment can increase the factor of safety by as much as 20%.
The biological casing of the hillbanks built from carbon waste rocks through turfness is achieved with seeding in the ground of properly selected grass mixtures accompanied by artificial fertilizers. The lawn on such a ground can be enriched floristically through the supplementary seeding of the Phacelia tanacaetifolia cultivar Stala. The applicability of the Phacelia tanacaetifolia cultivar Stala was estimated basing upon its germination ability and upon the further phases of its growth and development on the carbon rock grounds of known physical and chemical characteristics. The results confirm that Phacelia may be used to achieve colour effects of the lawn under the studied conditions. The blue Phacelia tanacaetifolia cultivar Stala gives a pronounced colour effect to the lawn from June till August in the year of sawing. In the following year the colour effect is less pronounced with a maximum in May and June. The carbon rock ground accompanying the black coal exploration was used for the landscaping of recreational parks. The main green element of such a landscape is the flowering meadow lawn. To achieve the controlled colour effect of the formed plant community the applicability of the Phacelia tanacaetifolia cultivar Stala was investigated. The applicability of the cultivar Stala was estimated basing upon its germination ability and upon the further phases of its growth and development on the carbon rock grounds of known physical and chemical characteristics. The results confirm that cultivar Stala may be used to achieved colour effects of the lawn under the studied conditions.
