A heteropolysaccharide, named L2, from Lentinula edodes has been proved to possess immunostimulating and anti-ageing activities in previous studies, but its acting mechanism was not completely understood. In this study, 1 H NMR spectroscopy approach was employed to investigate the metabolic profi les of the urine from adult mice after L2 intervention. Using principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least squares-discriminate analysis (PLS-DA), 22 potential biomarkers were found to be mainly involved in some metabolic pathways: amino acid metabolism, energy metabolism, lipid metabolism, tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, urea cycle and gut microbiota metabolism. Among them, the signifi cantly altered metabolites include: elevated glutamate (75%) and creatine (64%); decreased proline (65%), betaine (58%), fucose (63%) and dimethylamine (59%). In conclusion, the present data is helpful to understand the mechanisms related to previously confi rmed immunomodulation and anti-aging effects of L2, and provide valuable information for mining new functions of L2.
The reconstitutional properties of mushroom fruitbodies dried convectionally and sublimatically were analysed. The fruitbodies of nameko (Pholiota nameko) and shiitake (Lentinus edodes) which differ in the structure, chemical composition and growth rate were examined. It was found that the most important influence on the rehydration rapidity (time of rehydration) was exterted by the method of drying. The differences between these two species of mushrooms were also distinctive and dependent on individual features of raw substrate and was closely connected with the examinated mushroom species.
Due to presented in literature potential health benefits of shiitake Lentinula edodes (Berk.) Pegl. and oyster mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus (Jacq.: Fr.) Kumm., chemical composition as well as Fe, Cu and Zn ions sorption (in conditions related to human digestive tract) by dried shiitake and oyster were investigated. Both dried mushrooms had the high content of dietary fiber, Fe, Cu, Mg, K but low of fat, Na and Ca. Relatively low sorption of micronutrients was found in pH = 1.8, while the high sorption of Cu and Fe was observed in pH = 8.7. Dried mushrooms satisfied the maximum permissible level standards concerning toxic metals. The results of the research suggest that dried shiitake and oyster mushrooms can be used as additives in food products
The study determined the effect of kind of substrate on mycelium growth, length of mycelium maturation period and yield of Lentinula edodes. Birch, beech and maple sawdust as well as rye, wheat, rape-seed and barley straws were used as substrates. The subjects of the experiment were three Lentinula edodes strains: CS-53, CS-333 and Hokken 600. Laboratory tests were conducted at the Department of Vegetable Crops, Agricultural University of Poznań. Cultivation experiments were carried out on the farm specializing in manufacturing the mycelium of cultivated mushrooms in Łobez, near Jarocin. It was stated that the most suitable substrate for shiitake cultivation was the beech sawdust, on which the highest yield was obtained. The highest mean yield of carpophores gave the Hokken 600 strain, irrespective of the substrate applied.
The forest muschroom Lentinula edodes (Berg.) Sing. is the second most important cultivated muschroom worldwide. Lentinus edodes commonly known as the shiitake muschroom, is a white rot wood decay fungus that naturally inhabitas the dead wood of many hardwood tree species in Asia. The researches carried out on the following Lentinus endodes varieties: BRZ, M6, 567 have shown that the addition of ground: soybean, flax or rape to a standard basis had a considerable influence on the outgrowing of mycelium in the basis. Shortening of the mycelium’s outgrowth time had an influence on the external features of obtained fruiting bodies, as well as on their size and shape. Biological features of each variety also had a considerable influence on the quality and height of the obtained yield. Three experiments were performed to determine the effect of selected substrated on muschroom yield and basidiome size of shii-take when grown on a syntehetic substrate.
Badania przeprowadzono w Katedrze Warzywnictwa Uniwersytetu Przyrodniczego w Poznaniu w roku 2008. Celem było porównanie wzrostu grzybni i plonu owocników ośmiu kultur krzyżówkowych twardziaka jadalnego hodowli własnej, tj. SH27/2x SH27/7, SH27/7xSH20/5, SH27/10xSH37/4, SH37/4xSH20/11, SH37/1xSH20/11, SH20/5xSH20/11, SH20/11xSH23/2 i SH23/2xSH37/1. Kontrolę stanowiły cztery odmiany handlowe wykorzystane do tworzenia kultur krzyżówkowych, tj. ‘SH20’, ‘SH23’, ‘SH27’ i ‘SH37’. Natomiast grzybnia kultur krzyżówkowych SH27/2xSH27/7, SH37/4xSH20/11 i SH20/5xSH20/11 najszybciej przerastała podłoże z trocin.
