Apple trees cv. ‘Šampión’ and ‘Gala’ grafted on M9 rootstock were planted at the distance 3,5x0,3 m on beds covered with polyethylene black foil and by the standard method. Trees were drip irrigated or grown without irrigation. Trees grown on beds without irrigation showed the poorest growth and yields. Drip irrigation was the most effective treatment increasing the growth, yields and fruit quality, especially of the trees planted on beds.
