Agricultural value of soils in upper part of Zagożdżonka River watershed. The paper presents soil conditions for agricultural production in Zagożdżonka River watershed. They are counted among light and very light textured soils. The content of organic matter and the content of macronutrients available for plants is low or very low. Soil suitability for agriculture production is generally week. The weakest soils should be designated to afforestation.
In this paper, the results of dissolved phosphorus and total phosphorus concentration during three research period of year 1991–2008 in upper part of Zagożdżonka River has been presented. The results concern two gauging: Czarna and Płachty Stare. The maximum observed concentration of dissolved phosphorus reached 1.95 mg PO4/l and total phosphorus 5.78 mg P/l. The decrease of concentration has been between researches periods has been noticed. Based on month average concentrations, the maximum and minimum concentrations periods have been described.
In the paper are shown analysis’ results of bedload transport variability during fl ood fl ow event observed in the Zagożdżonka River. The bedload measurement station, which is provided with bedload trap and instruments for continuous measuring and data recording, is located upstream of Czarna gauge station on research catchment area of Dept. of Hydraulic Engineering and Environmental Recultivation WULS. Based on measurements’ results of the fl ow and bedload transport parameters the correlation formulas (12) and (13) were determined, respectively for rising limb and recession of discharge hydrograph. For determination’s purpose of formulas (12) and (13) the Bagnold’s relationship (3) were used, modifi ed by author to the form (5), in which specifi c bedload discharge depends on specifi c stream power, hydraulic radius for river-channel bottom and median size of bed material.
Results of comparison of the average fl ow velocity in river cross-section, estimated on measurements carried out in the Zagożdżonka River and calculated from empirical formulas, are presented in the paper. Recognized that in case of the small natural river-bed conditions none of analyzed empirical formulas doesn’t perfectly fit the flow resistances variability. The mean relative error estimated for measured and calculated average velocities in the river cross-section are in range MRE = 13,6–17,5%.
Evaluation of selected characteristics of quantitative and qualitative periods without floods in the Zagożdżonka River. The paper presents the results of evaluation of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of periods without floods, separated on the daily flow data at the Czarna gauging station in agricultural the Zagożdżonka River catchment. Qualitative analysis concerned the value of phosphorus and nitrogen loads. During investigated period (1991–2009), streamfl ow droughts occurs only in summer time. The lowest concentration of nitrate has been notices during summer month and the lowest concentration of phosphate during winter months. The highest daily average loads of nitrates and phosphate has been noticed during winter time and the lowest for a low flow periods.
The measurement’s and calculation’s results of sediment transport delivered from the Zagożdżonka River catchment into the Staw Górny reservoir are presented in the paper. The measured mean silting of reservoir in time period 1980–2003 was 1142 m3 per year. Prediction calculations carried out by using different empirical formulas shown a good compatibility of results obtained from calculation and measured of the silting of reservoir. The values of relative error, determinate for the mean annual volume of calculated sediment transport and measured silting of reservoir, are from –7.7 to +7.3%.
Rolnicza zlewnia rzeki Zagożdżonki położona jest na Nizinie Mazowieckiej, należącej do tych regionów kraju, w których najczęściej występują susze. Celem pracy jest analiza niżówek rzeki Zagożdzonki w profilu Płachy Stare w latach 1963–2007. Materiał wyjściowy do analiz stanowiły wyznaczone parametry niżówek w profilu. W celu określania okresów niżówkowych na hydrogramach dobowych przepływów zastosowano metodę polegającą na wyznaczaniu niżówek za pomocą poziomów odcięcia – SNQ i Q90%. Najdłuższa i najsurowsza pod względem deficytu odpływu była niżówka w 1964 roku. W rozpatrywanym okresie nie zaobserwowano niżówek zimowych. W ostatnich latach badanego wielolecia niżówki występują co rok, jednak ich rozmiary i intensywność nie osiągają takiego poziomu jak w wypadku niżówek z lat ubiegłych.
Tendencies in variability of phosphorus and nitrogen forms in neighbour Zagożdżonka and Zwoleńka Rivers. The paper present the results of chosen water quality indicators in two neighbour catchments: Zagożdżonka and Zwoleńka Rivers. Despite of the agricultural as a main land manages, the point source pollution seems to play important rule in phosphorus and nitrogen concentration for both rivers. In case of Zagożdżonka River, the phosphorus concentration in outlet to the tributary suggest increasing of water quality, however the concentration of nitrates remains at almost the same level during years. In case of Zwoleńka River, the opposite relation has been notice for phosphorus concentration and similar tendencies in case of nitrate. The comparison of characteristic concentration for chosen sampling points indicates the relation between upper part of Zwoleńka and Zagożdżonka River.
