This article presents evaluation of effi ciency of the production scale of Polish milk processing companies in 1999–2010 performed basing on non-parametric methods. The non-parametric approach stemmed from linear programming method known as the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) method. The study involving a sample of 743 objects revealed increasing returns to scale observable in the Polish dairy sector. Further concentration of the dairy sector in Poland should lead to the better results of dairies. This analysis confi rmed earlier conclusions of relevant literature.

Prospects of table eggs production in Belarus

72%
Problems of development of egg production in Belarus are considered. Dynamics of volume of egg production is considered for the period of 1995-2009. Results of production and sale of eggs by integrated (mass production) poultry farms are analyzed by means of a correlation method.
Studies on the economic efficiency of pesticides used on spring triticale were conducted in 2008-2010 in Boguchwała (south-eastern Poland). On average from 52.0 to 86.2% of leaves were infested by triticale diseases. The efficiency of applied fungicides ranged from 44.2 to 87.7%. Yield increase was from 160 to 565 PLN from 1 ha. The cost coverage ratio was from 1.0 to 3.1, and the profitability ratio for treatments was from 2.3 to 7.3. The percentage cost ratio was from 3.5 to 10.4.
The article presents current status of the pig population in Poland and the reasons for its diminish in recent years. The main cause should be considered decline in the profitability of the production of pork, especially in farms with small-scale production. Dramatic drop in the number of pigs in farms occurred maintaining the herd to 200 units. Development opportunities are devoid farms living to 20 sows or sellers to 400 fattening pigs per year. Development opportunities are farms living 20–50 sows or selling annually 400–1000 pigs or piglets 500–1200. A fully competitive farms are sustained over 50 sows and selling over 1,000 fattening pigs per year, or more than 1,200 piglets. The main factor determining the profitability of the pork production is its scale.
Production efficiency of turkey-hen rearing in a farm in Poland during the withdrawal of meat and bone meal from feed mixtures was tested. The component was the main protein and amino acid source in feed mixtures for poultry and pigs until the end of October, 2003. Since 1st November 2003 the applying of meat meals into feed mixtures was forbidden by the terms of pre-accession agreements. The decision was made due to the necessity to meet the EU requirements in feed industry of our country. The study lasted almost a year and showed that the withdrawal of animal meals as protein source from feed mixtures considerably worsened technical, economic and technical, and economic efficiencies in turkey-hen rearing. A substantial increase in production costs resulted in the decrease of profit and profitability ratio in the farm. The increase in feed conversion rate per 1 kg of body weight was the main factor that worsened the rearing efficiency. It meant that feed manufactures had a large problem to compose suitable feed mixtures, which would ensure feed requirements for turkeys and simultaneously would give satisfactory economic returns for producers.
In the paper there was presented an issue of the law of diminishing returns in agriculture. It was shown, that despite its general character, it is impossible to satisfactorily explain issues of input´s transformation into output in a farming process in agriculture.
The subject this paper is to determine the efficiency of production of the various dimensions of semi-finished elements for the production of glued of beams. Given the methodological assumptions has been made a representative selection of raw logs, carried out experimental of sawing, an assessment of technological suitability of different grades sawn timber and semi-finished elements and was determined efficiency of production.
