This paper describes chemical composition of the quince (Cydonia oblonga Miller) fruits with particular attention paid to bioactive substances. The quince fruits are a valuable source of phenolic compounds especially proanthocyanidins, organic acids and micro- and macroelements. Therapeutic properties of these fruits and possibility of their utilization by industry are discussed.
