This paper deals with the end-users’ attitudes towards print and digital information and preferences to use print or digital media. Results of pilot questionnaire survey showed that while digital media are preferred to be used for writing, printed media are still favoured for reading. Furthermore, users are rather traditional in storing written information in a printed form. The statistical tests carried out confirmed hypothesis that there are differences in preferences between defined groups of respondents categorised by gender, age and level of education.
The article discusses the latest global trends in the use of paper in the newspaper sector offered by continent for the years 1999 and 2009. These are supplemented with an account of the decisions made by major world and domestic titles with respect to venturing into the market of electronic media.
The objective of this paper is to zoom in on the system of separated waste collection in Czech Republic (CR). The system of packing waste collection is described. The analysis of collection of base commodities of communal waste (paper, plastics and glass) in chosen regions has been carried out. St edo eský region has been chosen because of the number of its inhabitants and as well because of its location in the middle part of CR and because it neighbours with the Czech capital city, Prague. Region Vyso ina shows average values in base commodities collection. The results of the chosen regions are being compared to the present status of separation of these wastes in CR which is counted by packing company EKO-KOM. The company caries out back withdrawal and usage of wastes of mentioned packages.
In the work, an attempt was made to evaluate quickness of mycological biodegradation of paper products, with various percentage content of cationized starch and resinous glue, with help of FT-NIR spectrophotometry analysis. As a biotic factor - Ch. globosum axenic culture and mixture of microfimgi: A. niger, T. viride, P. funiculosum were used. As a criterion of biodégradation, one assumed resistance to overgrowth of samples' surface by test mycelium, and determined self-breaking, having completed mycological test on the 2nd, 4th, 7th, 10th and 14th day of observation. For the needs of research, one selected cellulose sulfate bleached deciduous pulp from which, together with the above listed pulp additives, sheets of paper were created, everything in laboratory conditions. Starch and resinous glue additives as packing of deciduous pulp caused an increase of susceptibility to overgrowth by test fungi, in comparison to samples without any additives. Paper products infected by Ch. globosum microfungus, generally showed bigger tendency towards biodégradation. Usage of FT-NIR spectroscopy allowed to analyse the complex process of degradation of ligno-cellulose material. Changes in the case of peak intensity of degraded waste paper pulps, were mainly noticed in the case of functional groups of cellulose C-H (4280 cm"1), C-H2 (4404 cm"1), and O-H groups (range 4620-4890 cm"'). Simultaneous usage of several independent methods of degradation degree evaluation, enabled objective interpretation of results, and the carried analyses mutually support the obtained research results.
The paper deals with the state of pulp and paper markets in the global point of view. The research detailed analyses pulp and paper industry (PPI) and identifies a most important producers and exporters of different pulp and papers commodities. The analysis of markets for pulp and paper has been done according to data 2008. Thanks to statistic analyses (correlation analyses) we describe relationship among production, consumption and foreign trade of the most important commodities (chemical wood pulp, mechanical wood pulp, paper and paperboard).
