In the Christian science, protection of the environment in which man lives is a significant theological and moral issue. The Church emphasises the objective relation between health of the environment and the moral order. Man ought to feel responsibility for the gifts God bestowed on him. We have the obligation to hand them to next generations, and so we must protect and preserve them. Popes many times have presented their position on the environmental threats. In his encyclical letters, John Paul II proposed a new understanding of our life on Earth and considered environmental protection indispensable for real human development.
