In the paper an attempt of assessment of equipment with some appliances and facilities of environmental protection in villages was made. The analysis was conducted taking into account division of country territory into voivodeships using methods of multi- -dimensional comparative analysis. The final result of the study is voivodeships ranking and dividing voivodeships into three groups: of a high, average and low level of village environmentally friendly infrastructure. Attention was paid to relatively great span between the first group (group of the best equipment) and the third group – the worst in this respect.
The measuring in field is the most commonly used activity in various industrial branches. To be the results useful the data must be stored in a suitable database. There is a problem: to use either one of most of commercial database systems or to create the special purpose designed database? This question is discussed and an own approach of the database design is presented in this paper. The goal is the designed database with minimum of memory capacity occupied and the most rapidly information provided. It is supposed that the basic database design rules e.g. to avoid redundant data (normalization), ensure that the relationships among attributes are represented or facilitate the checking of updates for violation of database integrity constraints are respected. A special optimization method for common attributes reduction, for storing strings of variable length and for database reorganization is used.
Acoustic methods are the most effective in underwater search; nevertheless, their application in the southern Baltic is a far more complex task then under oceanic conditions. The knowledge of acoustic wave propagation under water finds a twofold application in the Navy. Firstly, it serves the purpose of increasing the possibilities of detection, observation and identification of objects moving under water, and secondly, it is used for passive defence by minimising the acoustic field of one’s own vessel. The paper presents results of research on conditions of acoustic wave propagation in the southern Baltic. The characteristics of acoustic climate of the Baltic and its anomalies has been prepared on the basis of echo ranging and hydroacoustic research from 1902-2004. Moreover, the effect of variability of spatial distribution of sound velocity on the propagation of acoustic waves has been shown, which determines the range of hydroacoustic devices and also the hydroacoustic field range of one’s own vessel.
