Modelling pollutant transport in rivers including uncertainty analysis: application of dead zone model. In this study a methodology of contaminants transport in rivers is presented. Comparing to the traditional approach, presented methodology is extended to uncertainty assessment and sensitivity analysis. The one-dimensional dead zone model is applied to describe solute transport. The model parameters are estimated from the results of a tracer experiment carried out on Wkra River. The identifi cation of parameters is followed by uncertainty assesment and sensitivity analysis. The results show that dead zones have no impact on the model predictions. To conclude, in this case, the Fickian model is suffi cient to characterize transport of pollutants.
