The paper presents selected facts concerning the role of commensal microorganisms in mammals. The significance of these microorganisms, found on the skin, in the gastrointestinal tract and the respiratory system, has been described. Both the positive and negative consequences of their presence in mammals have been discussed.
Results of studies and literature search on parasitic and commensalic eugregarines in ground beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae) on the territory of Poland are presented. Records of parasitisation of adult ground beetles (Carabidae) of 84 species were examined and analyzed for the presence of parasitic protozoans belonging to eugregarines (Apicomplexa: Eugregarinorida). Parasitic eugregarines were recorded in 46 species of Carabidae belonging to fifteen genera.
