Statistical analysis of results indicated a significant positive correlation (r = 0.676, P<0.001) between manganese concentrations in serum and blood of cows. Manganese concentration measurements of 147 serum and 117 blood samples from cows in various stages of their production period and fed various manganese levels in their feed were used for determination of the range of reference values. The concentrations of manganese in lactating and drying cows ranged from 1.55 - 4.85 x ng/ml and 1.27 - 3.05 x ng/ml in the serum and from 5.10 ng/mL to 12.35 ng/ml and 4.40 ng/ml to 9.45 ng/ml in the blood, respectively. Analysis of the variance of mean manganese concentrations in the serum and blood revealed that the lowest concentrations of manganese were found in drying cows.
