Australodon gen. nov. is described for A. nearnsi sp. nov. from subtropical rainforests of the southern Queensland and northern New South Wales in Australia. Australodon belongs in Cerambycinae but it cannot be placed in any recognized tribe based on adult morphology; it is considered a genus incertae sedis, awaiting further research on higher classification of Cerambycinae. The males of Australodon have massive saber-tooth-like mandibles not frequent in other Cerambycinae members.
The paper contains results of a faunistic research during the collecting trip by three members of the Silesian Entomological Society in Italy and Croatia on 27 May - 4 June 2000. For all collected species the localities are given, for some most interesting species also short comments are provided.
Eight species of Cerambycidae (Coleoptera) new for the Kozienice Forest and five very rare but known from this locality.
Mainly on the basis of the author's own field studios, carried out in the Tenczyński Scenic Park, situated in the Cracow Upland (southern Poland), during 2000-2002, the trophic relations of adults of 39 species of Cerambycidae arc presented. These species are grouped into 4 trophic categories: consumers of pollen and other parts of flowers; consumers of green parts of plants; consumers of bark, phloem and xylem; and consumers of fungi.
Trophic relations for larvae of 68 species of longhorn beetles were determined, based mainly on my own field studies carried out between 1999 and 2002 within the Tenczyński Landscape Park in the Kraków Upland (southern Poland). The list of host plants for Cerambycidae larvae includes 46 taxa (mainly at the species level), chiefly trees and shrubs, classified within 13 categories of the breeding material.
The paper presents faunistic data of 36 species (197 specimens) collected by Dr Bolesław BURAKOWSKI in 1964 in Romania. New host plants for 5 species are given.
The paper contains results of faunistic research; 9 new species to Wrocław and 1 new species to Lower Silesia are presented.
Based on the author's own observations, the literature data and oral communications, the information was presented about the distribution and ecology of Rosalia alpina (L.) in the area of the Forest Division of Łosie (the Carpathians, SE Poland), located within the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Cracow. Threats and proposals were presented regarding the protection of the species in the studied area.
