The aim of the study was to assess the quality of pastures located in less-favoured areas (LFA) of Czech Republic, to evaluate the influence of that quality on the content of fatty acids of milk in grazing goats and in farm natural cheese made of their milk. Samples of forage were collected in 2008 and 2009, on 5 July, 9 August, 6 September and 4 October. Goat milk samples were taken on the same days of both years and additionally on May 31. The highest content of protein and fat of the forage dry matter and, consequently, the highest feeding value of pasture were found in July and October. It was associated with a high content of clovers and herbs in the available herbage. During grazing the content of saturated fatty acids (SFA) of goat milk fat continuously decreased while the trend for the content of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) was opposite. A significant increase in herb of the total crop observed in autumn contributed to a highest content of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) in fat of goat milk. The fatty acid profile of goat cheese was related to that of the milk. Thus, a high content of PUFA, including CLA, observed in milk of grazing goats guarantees that the cheese made of that milk fulfills the requirements for functional foods.
Areas with the permanent natural handicaps resulting in higher production costs are defined by European Union as Less-Favoured Farming Areas (LFA). The need of delimitation of LFA has been caused by the necessary adjustment of the Polish agriculture policy to the requirements of the European Union in connection with Poland's application for the membership. The main goal of the presented method is to support the Polish Ministry of Agriculture in their efforts to work out the future agricultural policy concerning LFA in accordance with the EU regulations. The conceptual model of the LFA GIS system for purpose of the agricultural management was prepared, the database was designed and established, the procedures of LFA delimitation with the use of ARC/INFO and ArcView software were elaborated and tested. The design of GIS is open and flexible. It is open for further development, for adding new data or new delimitation conditions. The flexibility of the system means that all data are easily available to the user, offering the possibility of adaptation to changes in binding legal regulations and standards.
The article discusses the problems of Functioning of leased farms on LFA. In order to explain the problem surveys were conducted. The information obtained from the surveys referred to the organization structure of the farms and the conditions of lease contracts. The analysis of the results shows that the lease of rural estates had a significantly positive effect on area structure of the farms in mountain areas. The further development of the farms depends on how fast the limits of lease in Poland will be diminished.
The aim of the article is to present local differentiation of rural areas saturation with the business entities of physical persons registered in the REGON system in south-east Poland in the year 2003. In the light of the analysis it can be stated that business entities of physical persons constitute an important part in the economic structure of the rural areas in south-east Poland. In the year 2003 over 150 thousands business entities were registered. They often are the only non-agricultural jobs available. The most attractive for the purpose are the rural areas situated in the neighborhood of the greatest urban and industrial agglomerations. High activity in establishing business of the physical persons can be observed in the areas characterized by high tourist attractiveness.
Для характеристики условий влажности принят условный гидротермический показатель (К) используемый в районировании сахарной свеклы на территории социалистических стран Европы. Классификация на районы влажности принимается по величине показателя К на уровне вероятности. Для умеренной зоны выделяются следующие районы увлажнения: очень засушливый район (К = 0,61-0,80), засушливый (К = 0,81-1,00), слабозасушливый (К = 1,01-1,20), умеренного увлажнения (К = 1,21-1,40), оптимального увлажнения (К = 1,41-1,60) и влажный (1,61 -1,80). На основе тридцатилетних данных (1931-1960) составлена карта распределения обсуждаемого показателя на уровне 80% вероятности. Преобладают три главных района влажности: умеренного увлажнения, оптимального увлажнения и влажный. На небольшой территории в окрестности Гнезна и Тшемешна - район слабо засушливый. По тридцатипятилетним данным (1951/52-1985/86) сравнива псовтормость лет с неблагоприятными условиями влажности для сахарной свеклы в выделенных на карте районах. В районе умеренного увлажнения годы с засушливыми условиями выступают в около 3-6%, с условиями слабо засушливыми в около 9-17%, тогда как в районе оптимального увлажнения годы с засушливыми условиями вообще не выступают, а с условиями слабо засушливыми выступают в около 6-9% лет. Во влажном же районе годы с засушливыми условиями не выступают, а со слабо засушливыми выступают не чаще 3% лет. Можно принять, что в годы, в которые показатель принимает значение ниже 1,00 (засушливые условия) орошение должно давать очень хорошие результаты. Также в годы с показателем ниже 1,20 (слабо засушливые условия), особенно на легких почвах, орошение весьма желательно.
The article touches upon problems of legal instruments supporting agricultural development in LFA. It discusses compensatory allowances for LFA based on the analysis of the Council Regulation No. 1257/1999 and the following polish regulation of 14.04.2004. Next, it presents data that concerning the realization, by Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture, of the support for LFA, with the special regard to Lower Silesia. In the final part of the article, the author represent legal settlements concerning LFA, which will enter into force on the year 2007.
The article shows, on an example of a mountain and sub-montane municipalities, the extent and forms of land turnover with various purpose. Local property market was identified through an analysis of civil law land turnover on the basis of notarized deeds executed in 2000- 2004. Market and off-market transactions comprised both whole agricultural holdings, their parts and single properties. Farmers used to purchase and sale transactions to acquire land for enlarging their farms or setting up new ones. On the other hand, off-market transactions (gifts, life usufructs and inheritances) aided formal divisions of farms, although they still remained organizational unity.
