An evaluation of the effect of the under-crown and drip irrigation and nutrient availability of soils on the yield and crop quality of an apple orchard has been done. The studies were carried out the in 1989-1995 at Przybroda, the Agricultural Experimental Station of the University of Agriculture in Poznań. The obtained results indicated that the irrigation did not exert any essential influence on the changes of the content of available nutrients in soil and did not modify general composition of soil. The applied irrigation systems affected the amount of water used per one unit of surface and the yields. However, these differences did not contribute to any essential changes in the crop quality.
