The aim of this paper is to present the character and scale of the investment activity of the Wisznice Commune in the years 2010-2012, with particular focus on the investments co-financed through the European Union funds. It also demonstrates the level of activity of the Wisznice Commune’s self-government in the absorption of the European funds, in comparison with other rural communes in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The Author’s research proves that the Wisznice Commune is one of the leading rural communes in the Lubelskie Voivodeship in terms of the number of submitted applications, the obtained amount of subsidies per one inhabitant, and the value of investment spending. The scale and character of its investments indicate a high level of activity and innovativeness of its local leaders. In effect, the analysed Commune is also one of the leading rural communes in terms of general development, and can serve as an example to other rural communes in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The article presents an analysis of the development of investment services and activities in Poland in the period 2005 – 2012. An attempt has been made to identify the factors that have an influence on the shape and character of particular investment services. The analysis made it possible to try and find an answer to the question concerning the direction of evolution of the model of running investment services and activities25 in Poland – either towards the Continental Model or the Anglo-Saxon Model, and what are its implications for the Polish financial market.
The peculiarities of Ukraine’s investment climate and the main obstacles that foreign investors face during their capital investment realisation are analysed in the article. An analysis of foreign investment inflow by sectors in the Ukrainian economy during the preceding 10 years is described in the article and the per cent intertemporal changes in foreign investment inflow by sectors are formed and analysed here. It can help to determine foreign investors’ preferences in relation to industries of the Ukrainian economy. On the basis of analysis of organisational, economic and legal principles of investment climate strengthening as well as foreign investors’ motivation, the methods of improvement of the mechanisms of foreign direct investment attraction into the Ukrainian economy were offered by authors.
Subject and purpose of work: The paper presents an analysis of investment activity in Biała Podlaska in 2008-2015 and evaluation of this activity by the local community. Main directions of investments, including funds from the European Union have been presented. Materials and methods: The paper has been prepared on the basis of the literature, programming documents of the city and own research based on the sample of 100 residents. Descriptive method, statistical analysis and graphical presentation of the results of research have been used. Results: The paper has confirmed that investments are a key factor in the development of every city and the use of this factor by means of the inflow of funds from the outside depends on the attractiveness of the city and the surrounding region and activity of the municipalities. The city of Biała Podlaska has undergone a deep restructuring and changed in the functional structure. Investments have been integrated into strategic and operational development objectives of the city. The level of investment in Biała Podlaska puts the city at the forefront of towns in the Lublin region and ensures stability of development. Conclusions: The research has confirmed the role of investments in urban development and the role of European funds in the investment process. In addition to the cognitive results the research has revealed the need to develop marketing activities and coordination, providing the possibility of better use of resources and geographical position to re-industrialization of the economy. The support of local authorities is needed to develop academic, industrial, transportation and logistics functions.
The paper presents the assessment of the innovative activity of wood-processing and furniture enterprises in the years 2000-2009. Until 2008 an increase in expenditure on investment activity was observed. In the recent two years investment activity has slowed down due to economic crisis. Investment in wood processing industry was mainly aimed at technical and technological modernisation of production plants. Furniture industry is characterised with balanced approach to technical and technological investment and investment in buildings and infrastructure.
The accession of Poland to the EU accelerated the dynamics of growth of food industry production, improved the economic condition of enterprises as well as resulted in the increase of the investment activity. It was a widespread phenomena, which appeared in most segments of food production. The economic boom in the food industry was caused by a rapidly growing of export, the growth of domestic demand which was caused by acceleration of the economic development, as well as by a significant industrialization progress of processing of agricultural products. The food industry has strengthened its competitive position on the Common European Market, not only in terms of prices, but also in terms of quality and competence of activity.
