The influences of single(lx) intraperitoneal (i.p.) administration of imperatorine and dry extract from Angelica archangelica L. were examined with reference to their effect on the central nervous system (CNS) in mice. It has been shown that neither compound displayed neurotoxic activity and weakly affected mice CNS. The dry extract from Angelica archangelica L. had a weak antidepressive action and exerted antinociceptive effect in a wide range of doses. Antinociceptive effect of imperatorine was weaker than dry extract. In other behavioural tests these compounds were inactive.
