The influence of agrotechnical factors on bioavailable contents of microelements in the humus horizon of soil

The objective of this research project was to determine the impact of the cultivated crop plants, nitrogen fertilisation and sprinkling on the contents of microelements obtained from the DTPA extract. It was found that the bioavailable content of the microelements was determined by all the three factors, with the sprinkling affecting more conspicuously the content of iron, copper and zinc in the soil, while crop rotation exerted a distinctly stronger impact on content of manganese.

Transformations and mobility of 14C-carbofuran in the soil

The transformations of ¹⁴C-ring-labeled carbofuran and leaching with water in the humus soil were investigated. The experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions using natural profile of arable layer (mini-lysimeters) and in field lysimeter. The tested compound applied on the soil surface was eluted with water in laboratory and sprinkled four-times every 2 weeks in field trial. Carbofuran was mobile in the soil with permeable water. lts residues could reach the ground water as a result of leaching with heavy rains. The both processes, disappearance of extractable residues and formation of bound ones were most intensive in the upper layers of the soil. The using of natural soil profiles (mini-lysimeters) offer an excellent experimental set up for study of crop protection chemicals behaviour in the soil.

Formula describing capillary porosity of organic soils in relation of density by volume and shrinkage by volume was verified and extended. Formulas describing shrinkage of organic material in relation of its selected physical properties were given too. Coefficients occurring in that formulas were evaluated on the basis of investigations of organic material drawn from top layers of soils formed on Istebnian sandstone, which is covered by spruce forest stand.
