Heading and flowering date of timothy cultivars (Bartovia, BAH-281, Obra, Skala, Skrzeszowicka - basic and certified seed, S2D-280) recorded in two sets of 3-year experiment were significantly different. Largest differences in the first and second set were 5 and 3 days, respectively. Inter-plant variation within cultivars made 58-79% of the general variation of both traits. Their effect on spike maturity index at harvest was a little higher (83-87%), The number of fertil spikes was the highest in second year of utilization, whereas in first and third year their number was variable. The cultivars Bartovia and Skrzeszowicka exhibited the highest, seed weight per spike. Selection effect of harvest date taking place during the seed reproduction was recorded in cv. Skrzeszowicka. Population derived from certified seed of this cultivar exhibited earlier heading and lower seed weight per plant than population from basic seeds.
