Screening of environmental samples for bacteria producing 1,3-propanediol from glycerol

 Twenty nine environmental samples were screened for the presence of anaerobic microorganisms fermenting glycerol with 1,3-propanediol as a final product. Seven samples were then selected for the next step of our research and eight bacteria strains were cultured anaerobically. Seven of them produced 1,3-propanediol with a yield of 0.47-0.58. Six of the the isolated microorganisms were then classified as Clostridium butyricum (four strains), C. lituseburense (one strain), and C. sartagoforme (one strain). We suggest that of all these strains C. butyricum 2CR371.5 is the best 1,3-propanediol producer as producing no lactate as a by-product and growing well on a glycerol-containing medium.

Bioenergy innovations and their determinants: a negative binominal count data analysis

The research employed a negative binominal count data model approach to analyse the determinants of bioenergy innovations with a special focus on the effect of energy and climate policies. A panel of 14 OECD countries were analysed using patent counts for the period 1978–2009 as a proxy for innovations. The policies examined were feed-in tariffs, quota obligations and different types of investment support schemes. The study found that feed-in tariffs affected innovation positively but quota obligations did not. The results regarding investment support programs were ambiguous since the dummy variable representing strong investment policies was statistically significant whereas the continuous variable for investment support schemes was not. Another finding was that electricity prices seemed to be an import-ant determinant of innovation and that the accumulated stock of knowledge in the bioenergy sector also had a positive impact on bioenergy innovation.

The objective of the research is to compare the importance of agribusiness in the economies of the EU countries. The results suggest that the agribusiness share in national economy and its internal structure depends on the country’s level of economic development. In the better developed countries the share index value is low, while in the less developed countries it is relatively high. The main condition for changing the situation in Poland is to generate an economic growth.

Before moving on to the definition and classifications of plastics, we have to understand the building blocks of plastics. Those are called polymers. In short polymers are large molecules made of repetitive units called monomers. They could have linear, branched or cross-linked structure. Linear polymers are often thermoplastic, that is to say they "are fusible in certain temperatures and also soluble in some solvents. Cross-linked polymers are infusible and insoluble. Polymers are widespread in nature. They are building material for plant and animal organisms. Starch, cellulose, proteins and chitin are all polymers. Other large group of polymers are synthetically made from petrochemical sources, natural gas and coal. All polymer groups are used in many industrial branches.

Rolnictwo będąc jednym z działów gospodarki narodowej pełni w niej określone funkcje. Regionalne zróżnicowanie rolnictwa w Polsce przekłada się na jego odmienne znaczenie dla gospodarki w poszczególnych regionach kraju. Świadczy o tym siła wpływu rolnictwa na kreowanie wartości dodanej brutto regionu, udział rolnictwa w produkcji globalnej, czy poziom zatrudnienia w rolnictwie. Analiza danych statystycznych wykazała, że największy wpływ na wskaźniki makroekonomiczne ma ten dział w województwach podlaskim, lubelskim, wielkopolskim i warmińsko-mazurskim. Jednocześnie można zauważyć, że oddziaływanie rolnictwa na te wskaźniki systematycznie maleje.
