Number and height of the summer stalks as well as the crown circumference in 28 asparagus (Asparagus officinalis L.) cultivars were determined in 2002-2005. Variabilities of the stalk features among 28 cultivars and among the individual plants of particular cultivars were also estimated. Morphological measurements of 10 plants on each plot were taken in autumn every year. The investigations began in 2000 and so the morphological measurements of stalks were taken on plants 3-6 years old. Green spears were harvested for about 3 weeks in 2003 and for 8 and 7 weeks in 2004 and 2005, respectively. Correlation between summer stalk characteristics and yields in following years was estimated. Large variability of summer stalk features was stated among cultivars and individual plants within particular cultivars. Big differences in yielding were also stated among the cultivars. The lowest differentiation among 28 cultivars was found in height of stalks, larger in crown circumference and the highest in stalk number. Variability of individual plants within particular cultivars and differences among the years were larger for stalk number than for two remaining features. The yield in the third year of harvest was strongly correlated with crown circumference and slightly with stalk number in the previous year. On the basis of stalk characteristics and their correlation with the yield, the cultivars Gynlim, Ravel and Grolim may be considered as suitable for growing in Poland.

W latach 2003-2005 w Stacji Doświadczalnej „Marcelin” oceniano przydatność 21 odmian szparaga w uprawie na zielone wypustki. U badanych odmian oceniano wielkość plonu ogółem i handlowego, średnią masę wypustki handlowej oraz skłonność odmian do tworzenia wypustek z rozluźnioną główką, sparciałych i krzywych. Stwierdzono, że największą przydatnością do uprawy w Polsce charakteryzowała się odmiana Gynlim, a stosunkowo dużą odmiany Ramos i Andreas. Za nieprzydatne do uprawy w Polsce należy uznać odmiany Gloria, Diego, Tainan 2, Tainan 3, Trigal, PLA-2132, Tsuki-kho 3 oraz Purple Passion.
