In the 21st century, in the epoch of creation of a knowledge-based economy, innovativeness acquires a strategic importance for development and well-being of states and nations. Perceiving its role, many subjects do monitor and assess innovativeness at the macro, mezo and micro levels. The article discusses the results of states, sectors and enterprises presented in the reports: European Innovation Scoreboards (EIS), Global Innovation Scoreboard (GIS), The EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard and the report prepared by the Booz Allen Hamilton Company, Global Innovation 1000. EIS presents the results of 32 European states as well as comparison of the mean for the EU with the results for USA and Japan. GIS presents the results for 48 countries and singles out 4 groups of states with a differentiated level of innovativeness. The other two reports contain assessment of sectors' and enterprises' innovativeness.
