The aim of performed investigation was to determine the occurrence of diseases and pests in maize grown using the method of direct sowing, after white mustard, in dependence on the kind of fertilizer, mode of fertilization and mode of applying nitrogen fertilization. The use of a part of nitrogen dose in form of RSM-28 reduced the number of plants damaged by frit fly in comparison with the application of total nitrogen dose before sowing. Starter fertilization increased percentage of plants infected by common smut, in comparison to broadcast fertilization.

The aim of investigation was qualification of reaction of maize grown using of direct sowing, after winter wheat, with various ways of fertilization, in dependence of the kind of fertilizer and the way of supplying the dose of nitrogen, taking under consideration the occurrence of diseases and damage by pests. The kind of fertilizer, the way of supplying nitrogen and methods of fertilization did not influence the percentage of plants damaged by frit fly and European corn borer, and the occurrence of fusariosis. The kind of the fertilizer and the way of supplying nitrogen also did not influence the number of plants affected by common smut. The starter fertilization increased the percentage of plants infected by common smut, as compared to broadcast fertilization.
